Riccardo Franchi

The Italian Riccardo Franchi studied from 2011 to 2016 at the Scuola di Ballo del Teatro alla Scala. He continued his education at the Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera and the Junior Company. At the Teatro alla Scala di Milano he participated in ballet performances of »Don Quixote«, »Cinderella« and »Carmen«, among others, at the Vienna State Opera he danced until now in Kenneth MacMillan's »Marguerite and Armand«, Rudolf Nureyev's »Swan Lake«, the concert »20 Years Opera School« and the operetta »Die Fledermaus«. In the matinee of the Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera in 2019 he danced in Peter Breuer's »Bolero«, in 2022 in Martin Schläpfer's »Jamie«, an excerpt of »Raymonda« and the leading role in Christiana Stefanou's »Gioconda's Smile«. He also interpreted the role of the young dancer in Richard Strauss' opera »Capriccio«. Since the 2022/23 season he has been a member of the corps de ballet of the Vienna State Ballet. He performed, among others, in Lotte de Beer's & Andrey Kaydanovskiy's »Jolanthe and the Nutcracker«, Martin Schläpferʼs »Ein Deutsches Requiem« and»Drittes Klavierkonzert«, Karole Armitageʼs »Ligeti Essays«, Paul Taylorʼs »Dandelion Wine« as well as in the operettas »Die Fledermaus« and »Orpheus in der Unterwelt« at the Volksoper Wien.
