Victor Cagnin

Victor Cagnin, born in Lyon in 2002, received his dance education at the Ballet Academy of Vienna State Opera, which he completed in 2021. He trained with teachers such as Vladimir Shishov, Lucian Nescea or Jed O'Grady Weiss. In 2019, he was awarded both the Karl Musil Prize of the Vienna International Arts Festival and 2nd place at the Youth America Grand Prix Paris. With the 2021/22 season, Victor Cagnin took up his first engagement in the Corps de ballet of the Vienna State Ballet.
His previous performances include parts in Jerome Robbins' »Glass Pieces«, John Cranko's »Onegin«, Elena Tchernichova's »Giselle«, Rudolf Nureyev's »Swan Lake«, Frederick Ashton's »La Fille mal gardée« as well as Martin Schläpfer's »In Sonne verwandelt«, »Marsch, Walzer, Polka« and »The Sleeping Beauty«. Furthermore, he danced in the Matinee of the Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera in 2022 alongside his sister Nina Cagnin the Grand Adage from the Grand Pas classique hongrois from »Raymonda« after Marius Petipa & Konstantin Sergeyev.
For his interpretation of Tadzio in Benjamin Brittan's »Death in Venice« (directed by Sir David McVicar) in May 2022 at the Volksoper Wien, Victor Cagnin was nominated as one of the »10 dancers with the best prospects« in the critics' poll in the 2022 yearbook of the renowned magazine tanz.
