Danae Kontora

DANAE KONTORA was born in Athens. She studied at Athens Conservatoire, then went to perfect her training at Munich University of Music and Performing Arts and at Bayerische Theaterakademie August Everding. In 2015/16, she was a member of Oper Frankfurt’s Opera Studio. In 2015, she was nominated as "Best Young Singer of the Year" by the magazine Opernwelt and won the Bayerischer Kunstförderpreis prize. She has sung the title part in Martín y Soler’s L’arbore di Diana, Eurydice (Orphée et Eurydice), Olympia (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte), Tigrane (Radamisto), Woodbird (Siegfried), Blonde (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Despina (Così fan tutte), Servilia (La clemenza di Tito) and others. Danae Kontora has performed at Oper Leipzig, Oper Frankfurt, Semperoper, Aalto Theatre Essen, Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz and Prinzregententheater in Munich, Munich Biennale, Mozartfest Würzburg, Tianqiao Performing Arts Center in Beijing, Israeli Opera Tel Aviv, Edinburgh Festival, Komische Oper Berlin and Greek National Opera, Athens.
