Alberto Veronesi

Italian conductor ALBERTO VERONESI was born in Milan and studied the piano, composing and conducting at Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in his hometown. While still a student, he founded Guido Cantelli Orchestra, which he led until 2000 and took to Salzburg Easter Festival, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and others. In 1999, he was appointed Musical Director of Festival Puccini di Torre del Lago, in 2001 Artistic Director and Music Director of Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana in Palermo, in 2011 Music Director of Opera Orchestra of New York, in 2013 Director of Shanghai Opera House, and he has also worked as Chief Conductor at Teatro Comunale in Bologna and Director at Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari. Furthermore, he has performed at Teatro alla Scala, Deutsche Oper Berlin, in Brussels and Rome. Recently, he has conducted Tosca and Madama Butterfly in Riga und Belgrade, Madama Butterfly in Sofia, Manon Lescaut in Pisa, Suor Angelica, Il tabarro and La bohème in Belgrade, Nabucco at the Romanian National Opera in Bucharest, Turandot in Savonlinna, Don Carlo in Tbilisi, Le villi at Müpa Budapest and Madama Butterfly, La fanciulla del West and Le villi in Torre del Lago.
