Alexey Markov

ALEXEY MARKOV was born in Vyborg, Russia. He has won various awards, including the International Stanislaw Moniuszko Vocal Competition (2007). He is currently an ensemble member of Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. He has guest performed at several opera companies, including the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Teatro Real in Madrid, Zurich Opera House, Semperoper, Bayerische Staatsoper and the Salzburg and Baden-Baden festivals. His repertoire includes roles such as Marcello, Rodrigo, Leonel (Giovanna d’Arco), Renato, Amfortas, Prince Andrei (War and Peace), Robert (Jolanthe), Eugene Onegin, Luna. Most recently he has sung Don Carlo (Forza del destino) at Semperoper, Escamillo at ROH Covent Garden, Sir Riccardo Forth (I puritani) at the New York Met and at Müpa in Budapest, Ezio (Attila) in Lyon and Paris, Michonnet (Adriana Lecouvreur) at Verbier Festival, and many leading roles at Mariinsky Theatre. Upcoming performances include, amongst others, Don Carlo, Giorgio Germont and Escamillo in Dresden, Robert (Iolanta) in New York, and Shaklovity (Khovanshchina) at Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
