EKATERINA GUBANOVA was born in Moscow and first studied the piano before embarking on vocal studies at Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory and Sibelius Academy Helsinki. She was a member of ROH Covent Garden’s Young Artists Programme in London. In 2005, her performance as Brangäne in Tristan und Isolde in Paris was critically acclaimed. She went on to sing the same role in Baden-Baden, Rotterdam, Paris, Berlin, New York, Buenos Aires, Tokyo and St. Petersburg. She has performed at leading opera companies such as Met, Teatro alla Scala, ROH Covent Garden, Bayerische Staatsoper, Arena di Verona, Canadian Opera Company, Opéra National de Paris, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Lyric Opera Chicago, Teatro Real in Madrid and Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona. She has sung roles such as Marguerite in La damnation de Faust, Eboli in Don Carlo, Fricka in Das Rheingold and Die Walküre, Olga in Eugene Onegin, Giulietta in Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Giovanna Seymour in Anna Bolena, Adalgisa in Norma, Charlotte in Werther, Venus in Tannhäuser, Judith in Herzog Blaubarts Burg and Carmen. At Vienna State Opera, she sang Amneris in 2016.
