Tenor YUSIF EYVAZOV was born in Algiers. He studied in Baku, then in Italy, where Franco Corelli and Gena Dimitrowa were among his teachers. Recently, he has performed at Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow (Cavaradossi, Des Grieux in Manon Lescaut, Don Carlo), Ravenna Festival (Otello), Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, (Des Grieux in Manon Lescaut, Radames), Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari (Canio), Verona (Turiddu, Radames, Calaf), Macerata (Canio), Los Angeles Opera (Canio), the New York Metropolitan Opera (Calaf, Cavaradossi), Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg (Calaf, Manrico), Opéra national de Paris (Radames, Manrico), Staatsoper Unter den Linden (Manrico, Cavaradossi), Salzburg Festival (Des Grieux in Manon Lescaut, Radames), Bayerische Staatsoper Munich (Macduff), in Prague (Andrea Chénier, Cavaradossi), at Teatro alla Scala Milan (Andrea Chénier), in Budapest (Andrea Chénier) and at Royal Opera House Covent Garden (Macduff). Current engagements include, amongst others, Dick Johnson at the Met, Cavaradossi in Prague, and Alvaro at ROH Covent Garden. At Vienna State Opera, he debuted as Calaf in 2016, and he has also sung the role of Manrico.
