
Mila Schmidt
The Viennese Mila Schmidt graduated from the Ballet School of the Vienna State Opera in 2009. She completed her studies at the NDT Summer Intensive and in Workshops of the ImPulsTanz – Vienna International Dance Festival with José Agudo (Akram Khan Repertoire) and Ismael Ivo (Modern Flow). From 2002 to 2007 she has been also tutored in classical music, playing Violoncello. Since 2010 she has been a member of the Vienna State Ballet, performing mainly in the Volksoper Wien in ballets, operettas and musicals. Her repertoire comprises main parts in Boris Nebyla’s »L'Après-midi d'un faune«, Vesna Orlić’s »Carmina Burana«, Wendy in Orlić’s »Peter Pan«, Jolanthe in Lotte de Beer's & Andrey Kaydanovskiy's »Jolanthe and the Nutcracker« and the title role in Thierry Malandain’s »Cendrillon«, therefor she was awarded with the Promotion Prize of the Ballettclub Wiener Staatsoper & Volksoper in 2017. Moreover, she was dancing in many works by Andrey Kaydanovskiy such as »Love Song« and »Dolce Vita« in the Odeon Theater in Vienna as well as in »Das häßliche Entlein« and »Zeitverschwendung« in the Volksoper Wien. Furthermore, she was acting and dancing the role of Louise Bigelow in Rodgers & Hammersteinʼs Musical »Carousel« and Maggie in Frederick Loeweʼs musical »Brigadoon« in the Volksoper Wien and Ida in Johann Strauß’ operetta »Die Fledermaus« at the Savonlinna Opera Festival in Finland. Most recently, Mila Schmidt performed in Martin Schläpfer's world premieres of »4«, »Sinfonie Nr. 15« and »The Seasons« as well as in »Ein Deutsches Requiem«. Moreover, she danced in the world premieres of Robert Weithas' »Raum 112« and Tainá Ferreira Luiz's »Tight« in »Platform Choreography«.
