The bass-baritone, multiple prizewinner and scholarship-holder THOMAS TATZL comes from Steiermark and studied Vocal Studies in Graz and Vienna. He has sung, amongst others, the roles of Ford (Falstaff) in Cagliari, Guglielmo (Così fan tutte) in Ravenna, Novara and Piacenza, Papageno at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Turin, Valencia and Cologne, Nozze-Figaro in Rome and Peking, Collatinus (Rape of Lucretia) with Maggio Musicale in Florence, in the world premiere of Mauricio Sotelo’s El Publico at the Teatro Real in Madrid und in Peter von Winter’s Labyrinth at the Salzburg Festival. He was also a Member of the Ensemble at Zurich Opera where he performed, amongst others, Un ballo in maschera, Palestrina, La fanciulla del West and From the House of the Dead. Thomas Tatzl also has an international reputation as a concert and oratorio singer. Conductors he has worked with include: Riccardo Muti, Sir Antonio Pappano, James Gaffigan, Philippe Herreweghe, Ingo Metzmacher, Christian Arming, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Nello Santi and Ivor Bolton.
