Since 2007, PAVEL BALEFF has been head of the Philharmonic of Baden-Baden, one of the most traditional orchestras in Germany. Due to his extensive repertoire, he has conducted operas, ballets and concerts at - amongst others - the Zurich Opera House, the Dresden Semper Opera House, the Leipzig Gewandhaus, the Hamburg State Opera and the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow. He works with internationally renowned soloists such as Anne Sophie Mutter, Anna Netrebko, Krassimira Stoyanova, Diana Damrau, Edita Gruberova and Vesselina Kasarova, Ramon Vargas, Thomas Hampson, Piotr Beczala and Luca Pisaroni. In 2012 the CD "Slavic Opera Arias" with Krassimira Stoyanova was honored with the prize of the German record critics and the "International Classic Music Award". The Verdi Recital with Krassimira Stoyanova at Orfeo won again in 2014 a prize of the German record critics. In 2015 "Russian Arias" with Vesselina Kasarova was published. He was voted Bulgarian "Conductor of the Year" for the Ring of the Nibelungs at the National Opera in Sofia. Pavel Baleff is the first winner of the "Carl Maria von Weber Competition" and received an award from the "Herbert von Karajan Foundation". Pavel Baleff conducted Leonce and Lena at the Opera in Zurich and Bartók's Herzog Blaubartsburg at the Opera in Montpellier in the 2014/15 season. In the season 2017/18, Pavel Baleff will direct the productions of M. Ravel L 'heure espagnole and L'enfant et les sortileges as well as the ballet Swan Lake as guest director at the Opernhaus Zürich. In 2018/2019 he will conduct The Dead City at the Opéra de Limoges.
