Michael Schade

As one of the leading tenors of our time, German-Canadian KS Michael Schade appears regularly as a guest at the world´s most renowned opera houses, concert and lied stages. He is closely connected to the Wiener Staatsoper, where he gave his debut in 1992 as Almaviva (Barbiere di Siviglia) and has since sung Ferrando, Don Ottavio, Belmonte, Nemorino, David, Henry, Tamino, Leukippos, Alfred, Matteo, Alfredo, Flamand, Tito, Prinz and the leading role in Idomeneo. Aside from this, he is a regular guest at the Salzburg Festival, the Hamburg Staatsoper, the Met, the Canadian Opera Company and was heard among others at the Scala, the Liceu Barcelona, the ROH Covent Garden, the Paris Opera and in Amsterdam. Current performances include among others Max in Freischütz in Berlin and Copenhagen and Walther von Stolzing in Glyndebourne. Next to his operatic activities, he works intensively on concert literature and lied singing. In 2007, he was awarded the title “Austrian Kammersänger”. In 2014, he took over the artistic directorship of the International Baroque Days in the Melk Monastery.
