Nina Tonoli

Born in Gent (Belgium). After her studies from 2005 to 2013 at the Koninklijke Balletschool Antwerpen and the Royal Ballet School (with honor certificate) she joined the Wiener Staatsballett 2013. 2014 she was announced demi soloist, 2016 she was promoted Soloist.

Her most important roles at the Wiener Staatsballett so far comprise Clara, Solo-Schneeflocke and Pastorale in Rudolf Nureyev’s „Der Nussknacker“, Gefährtin des Prinzen, Kleiner Schwan, Edelfräulein and Ungarischer Tanz (Soloist) in Nureyev’s „Schwanensee“, Kitris Freundin and Erste Brautjungfer in Nureyev’s „Don Quixote“, Clémence in Nureyev’s „Raymonda“, Lise and Freundin in Frederick Ashton’s "La Fille mal gardée", Gulnare and Odaliske in Manuel Legris' "Le Corsaire", Diana in Legris’ „Sylvia“, Fee des Ehrgefühls and Pas de quatre in Peter Wright’s „Dornröschen“, Gerda in Michael Corder’s "Die Schneekönigin”, Prinzessin Louise in Kenneth MacMillan’s „Mayerling”, Madame Elisabeth in Patrick de Bana’s „Marie Antoinette“, Pas de deux in Pierre Lacotte’s "La Sylphide", Aurora, die Morgenröte in Lacotte’s „Coppélia“, Pas de deux from Joseph Lazzini’s "La Fille mal gardée" as well as roles in Marius Petipa’s „Paquita“, George Balanchine’s „Valse Fantaisie“ and „Symphonie in C“, John Cranko’s “Romeo und Julia” (Lilienmädchen), Serge Lifar’s „Suite en blanc“, Rudi van Dantzig’s “Vier letzte Lieder”, John Neumeier’s „Vaslaw“ und “Magnificat” (excerpt), William Forsythe’s „The Second Detail“, Jean-Christophe Maillot’s „Vers un pays sage“, Helen Pickett’s “Eventide”, Thierry Malandain’s „Mozart à 2“ and Jerome Robbins’ "The Four Seasons".

In Daniel Proietto’s „Blanc“ she created the role of Eine führende Sylphide, in Eno Peci’s „Petruschka“ die Frau des Lehrers and in András Lukács’ „Movements to Stravinsky“ the 2nd couple.

Awards and honours: 2009 she was awarded the 2nd Prize and the Special Prize of the Jury „Janine Stanlowa“ at the Le Chausson d’Or, Paris. At the „De Strafste Gentenaar 2016“ she received from her hometown Gent a Prize in the category „Culture“ and „Media“.
