Dan Paul Dumitrescu

DAN PAUL DUMITRESCU was born in 1966 in Bucharest. He studied first the clarinet then singing at the Music University in Bucharest. In 1996, he visited the International Academy for Opera in Verona. Immediately following the completion of his studies at the Musikhochschule in 1997, he had an engagement at the Bucharest Opera House. He is a prize winner of several international and national competitions. Dan Paul Dumitrescu has made guest appearances on important stages like the Royal Albert Hall, Carnegie Hall, the Arena di Verona, the Milan Scala, the New Israeli Opera, the Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Wiener Musikverein, as well as in Munich, Budapest, Berlin, Paris, Tokyo and at the Salzburg Festival. In 2000 he made his debut at the Wiener Staatsoper and since September 2001, is an ensemble member of the house. His repertoire includes more than 60 Bass parts, for example Sarastro, Pimen, Gremin, Procida, Enrico VIII., Ramfis, Pistola, Sparafucile, Banquo, Raimondo, Oroveso, Graf Des Grieux, Balthazar, Colline, Timur, Pietro, Grenvil, Chowanski, Graf Rodolfo, Mönch and Großinquisitor (Don Carlos italian and french versions), Stefano (The Tempest), Kulygin (Tri Sestri) and Rochefort (Anna Bolena).
