
Karoline Hogl
Karoline Hogl was born in Tulln an der Donau and studied scenography with Erich Wonder at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Since then, she has worked as a freelance stage and costume designer for film, TV and theatre productions. With »Das hässliche Entlein« as part of the ballet programme »Märchenwelt Ballett«, her fruitful collaboration with Andrey Kaydanovskiy, demi-soloist of the Vienna State Ballet and award-winning choreographer, started in 2013 at the Volksoper Wien. She created the sets for his »The Firebird« and »lux umbra« as well as »Love Song« at the Odeon Theatre in Vienna, »Fables« at the Taganka Theatre Moscow and »Tea or Coffee« and »Pajama Party« at the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre Moscow. Her stage design for the latter was nominated for the Russian theatre prize »The Golden Mask« in 2020. For the Bavarian State Ballet, she designed the set and costumes for Kaydanovskiy’s »Discovery«, »Cecil Hotel« and »The Snowstorm« (stage design), and for the New Stage of the National Theatre in Prague »Perfect Example«. Most recently, she designed the set for Kaydanovskiy's »The Sleeping Beauty« which premiered at the Music Theater in Linz in December 2022. In addition to her work for dance, Karoline Hogl also creates designs for children’s, youth and musical theatre productions at the Theater der Jugend, the Dschungel Wien, the Theater Akzent and the Next Liberty in Graz.
