Ty Boomershine

The American Ty Boomershine received his dance education at the Fort Hayes School for the Performing Arts in Columbus, Ohio and at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, which he finished with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Engagements took him to New York, where he worked with choreographers such as Bill T. Jones, Ton Simons, Merce Cunningham, Yvonne Rainer and Lucinda Childs. During his stay in the Netherlands, he worked with the Rotterdam Dance Group, Karin Post, Leine & Roebana, Emio Greco I PC and Nicole Beutler. In 2012 he was a cast member of the revival of Philip Glass’ and Robert Wilson’s opera »Einstein on the Beach« and toured worldwide with the production for four years. Since 2007 Ty Boomershine works as assistant choreographer for Lucinda Childs and not only restages her works, e.g. »Dance« and »Available Light«, with companies all over the world, but also cooperates with her for different projects. Furthermore, he gives workshops for professional companies as well as for universities and dance studios in Asia, Europe and America and was rehearsal director and tour manager for ICKamsterdam, Nicole Beutler / nbprojects and Pere Faura. He also choreographs his own work which has been shown in New York at Movement Research and St. Marks Church / Danspace, the Holland Dance Festival in Amsterdam and this summer with Florentina Holzinger at the Ruhrtriennale and the Documenta. In 2015 Ty Boomershine joined the Berlin based Dance On Ensemble and is currently it’s Artistic Director. At Vienna State Ballet Ty Boomershine will restage Lucinda Childs »Concerto« in the 2021/22 season.
