Santo Loquasto

Santo Loquasto is widely known as a designer for theater, film and dance. He studied at the King’s College in Pennsylvania and Yale Drama School. Since his debut with »Stick and Bones« in 1972, he created stage and costume designs for more than 60 Broadway productions and worked with Woody Allen on over 22 films. He has won four Tony Awards for »The Cherry Orchard« (1977), »Cafe Crown« (1989), »Grand Hotel: The Musical« (1990) and »Hello, Dolly!« (2017) and a Drama Desk Award for »Glengarry Glen Ross« (2005). He received the Merritt Award for Excellence in Design and Collaboration in 2002, was voted into the Theatre Hall of Fame in 2005, received the Pennsylvania Governor’s Award for the Arts in 2006 and the Robert L. B. Tobin Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2007. Since Twyla Tharp’s ballet »Push Comes to Shove« he is closely associated with the American Ballet Theatre. He has collaborated with the choreographers Jerome Robbins, Glen Tetley, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Kenneth MacMillan, James Kudelka, Mark Morris, Helgi Tomasson and Paul Taylor, among others, and with international dance companies like Les Grand Ballets Canadiens, The National Ballet of Canada, Joffrey Ballet, San Francisco Ballet and Paul Taylor’s American Dance.
