Lithuanian soprano Vida Miknevičiūtė completed her vocal studies after attending the music conservatory at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in Kaunas. In 2003 she was awarded an Erasmus scholarship to attend the Leipzig »Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy« Academy of Music; from 2005 to 2007 she was a member of the International Opera Studio of Zurich Opera House. She also received contracts to appear as a guest performer at the Aix-en-Provence Festival and with Theater Basel. In 2008-2010 the soprano was engaged by the International Opera Studio of Hamburg State Opera, where she was seen as Hebe and Phani (»Les Indes galantes«), Pamina (»Die Zauberflöte«), Adina (»L’elisir d’amore«), Gretel (»Hansel und Gretel«), Micaëla (»Carmen«), Wellgunde and Freia (»Das Rheingold«) and Helmwige (»Die Walküre«). She has been a member of the ensemble of Staatstheater Mainz since 2011, where she has been heard as Elettra (»Idomeneo«), Princess Natalie of Orange, Tatiana (»Eugene Onegin«), Fiordiligi (»Così fan tutte«), Margherita (»Mefistofele«), Violetta Valéry (»La traviata«), Eva (»Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg«), Marguerite (»Faust«), Blanche (»Dialogues des Carmélites«), Mimì (»La Bohème«), Ursula (»Mathis der Maler«), Elisabetta (»Don Carlo«), Sieglinde (»Der Ring in one evening«) and as Amelia. Guest performances have taken her to Staatstheater Kassel as the Empress (»Die Frau ohne Schatten«), Chrysothemis and Maddalena di Coigny (»Andrea Chénier«), to Oper Frankfurt as Sylva Varescú (»Die Csárdásfürstin«) and to Leipzig Opera as Irene (»Rienzi«). She made her début as Elisabeth (»Tannhäuser«) at the Latvian National Opera in Riga and was also heard there as Marguerite and as Senta in a new production of »Der fliegende Holländer«. She also appeared as Senta at Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden and remains a welcome guest at Hamburg State Opera, with whom she gave a guest performance under the baton of Simone Young as Freia (»Das Rheingold«) in the Australian city of Brisbane. In 2018/19, she made a sparkling début at the Berlin State Opera as Chrysothemis (»Elektra«), returning in 2019/20 as Helmwige (»Die Walküre«). She sang Princess Natalie of Orange (»Der Prinz von Homburg«) at Staatsoper Stuttgart, Elettra (»Idomeneo«) at Staatstheater Kassel, Marguerite (»Faust«) and Lisa (»The Queen of Spades«) at the Latvian National Opera in Riga, and Amelia (»Simon Boccanegra«) at Staatstheater Mainz. She made her début as Salome, much lauded by critics and audiences, at the Victorian Opera in Melbourne; she will appear in this role at the Hungarian State Opera in Budapest. The soprano has appeared in concerts at the Tonhalle Zurich, Laeiszhalle Hamburg, at the Finnish Valery Gergiev Festival in Mikkeli, at Teatro di San Carlo Napoli, the Bratislava Festival, L’auditori de Barcelona, Auditorio Nacional Madrid and in her home country of Lithuania.
