Equally at home in the concert hall, recording studio, or working in the world’s leading opera houses, Benjamin Pope is a prize-winning graduate of Oxford University and the Royal College of Music, and has huge experience of all genres of music.
He has worked with orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Hallé Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, Orchestra of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Ulster Orchestra, Luxembourg Philharmonic, Orchestra Filarmonica della Fenice, Berliner Staatskapelle, Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, Dresdner Philharmoniker, Orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Iceland Symphony, Lahti Symphony, de Filharmonie, Holland Symfonia, Vlaams Radio-Orkest, Orchestra of the Opera Vlaanderen, Tokyo Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, Tokyo City Philharmonic, Osaka Symphony, Seoul Philharmonic, RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Copenhagen Philharmonic, Royal Danish Orchestra, Royal Swedish Orchestra, Finnish National Orchestra or Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa among many others.
In addition, Benjamin Pope is a highly experienced conductor for ballet. He is Music Director of the Royal Ballet of Flanders and has worked extensively with companies throughout the world including The Royal Ballet London, English National Ballet, Scottish Ballet, Rambert Dance Company, New York City Ballet, Dutch National Ballet, Staatsballett Berlin, Ballet of the Semper Opera Dresden, Royal Swedish Ballet, Royal Danish Ballet, Finnish National Ballet, Norwegian National Ballet and Tokyo Ballet. A long-time collaborator with Matthew Bourne, Benjamin Pope has conducted many of his productions including the award-winning »Swan Lake«, »Nutcracker« and »Highland Fling«. Operatic highlights include works by Mozart, Rossini, Verdi, Puccini and Mascagni.
As a composer, Benjamin Pope has written music for feature film, short film, television, radio, the stage and the concert hall. As a Music Director in the studio, he has a large number of credits including conducting the BAFTA award-winning and EMMY nominated soundtracks for the BBC flagship series »Walking with Dinosaurs« and »Walking with Beasts« which also feature Benjamin Pope’s orchestrations.
In the 2020/21 Benjamin Pope gave his Vienna State Ballet debut with the Robbins / Balanchine programme »A Suite of Dances«.
