Multi-award-winning young Canadian tenor JOSH LOVELL (grand prize and opera prize in ’s-Hertogenbosch International Vocal Competition, second place in Dallas Opera Competition, semi-finalist in Metropolitan Opera’s National Council Audition) hails from Victoria, British Columbia. He studied at University of Victoria und University of Michigan and is currently working with Julia Faulkner. He has participated in Salzburg Festival’s Young Singers Project. Most recently, he has sung Altoum (Turandot), Odoardo (Ariodante), Le Doyen de la Faculté (Cendrillon) and Trojan (Idomeneo) at Lyric Opera Chicago. His current opera engagements include Poisson (Adriana Lecouvreur) at Salzburg Festival, Gonzalve (L’Heure espagnole) at Wolf Trap Opera and Don Ramiro at New Generation Festival in Florence. Josh Lovell is also an avid concert singer. From the 2019/2020 season onwards, he has been an ensemble member at Vienna State Opera.
