Tenor MICHAEL SPYRES was born into a musical family in Ozarks (USA). His extensive repertoire stretches from the Baroque to the major works of the late 20th century, with a particular focus on the bel canto repertoire and French Grand opera. On his meteoric rise, he soon was engaged by major international companies, including Teatro della Scala in Milan, ROH Covent Garden in London, Liceu in Barcelona, Opernhaus Zürich, Dutch National Opera, as well as in Chicago and at several Italian opera houses. Most recently, Michael Spyres sang at Opéra national de Paris (title role in La clemenza di Tito), Oper Frankfurt (Vasco da Gama in L’Africaine), Bayerische Staatsoper (Les Contes d'Hoffmann), Barcelona (Fernand in La Favorite). Upcoming engagements include appearances at the New York Metropolitan Opera, Zurich Opera House (Pollione in Norma), in Genf (Gualtiero in Il Pirata) and Straßburg (La damnation de Faust).
