Teodor Ilincai

Tenor TEODOR ILINCAI was born in Romania in 1983. He studied oboe in Suceava, before embarking on vocal studies at National University of Music Bucharest. In 2006 the singer made his debut at the Romanian National Opera in Bucharest and was accepted into the scholarship programme of CEE-Musiktheater Vienna. Teodor Ilincai has won several major competitions, such as the renowned Francisco Viñas competition in Barcelona. In 2009 he debuted at Hamburgische Staatsoper as Macduff in Macbeth, and at Vienna State Opera as Ismaele in Nabucco. At the latter, he also sang the role of Pinkerton. Recently, he has appeared as Rodolfo (Bucharest National Opera, Hamburgische Staatsoper, Hungarian State Opera Budapest, Deutsche Oper Berlin), Alfredo (Teatro Real Madrid), Faust (Deutsche Oper Berlin, Théâtre du Capitole Toulouse), Cavaradossi (Cardiff, Opera Australia), Turiddu (Semperoper, Hamburgische Staatsoper, La Monnaie), Don Carlo (Opéra de Marseille, Deutsche Oper Berlin), Macduff (Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona) and as Maurizio in Adriana Lecouvreur (Teatro de la Maestranza, Seville).
