Versatile singer and composer, Daniel Behle is equally successful as an opera, concert and Lieder artist. His repertoire ranges from Baroque masterpieces through the classical and romantic repertoire to compositions of the 20th and 21st centuries. Opera engagements take him to the world’s leading stages. After his sensational début at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in 2016 as Ferrando in »Così fan tutte« he returned in October 2019 as Don Ottavio in »Don Giovanni«, conducted by Hartmut Haenchen. Further highlights of the 2019/20 season are his role débuts as Lohengrin at Theater Dortmund and Stuttgart State Opera (conducted by Cornelius Meister) and as Florestan in »Fidelio« at the Hamburg State Opera, and a new production of »Arabella« under Fabio Luisi at Zurich Opera, before he is due to appear again in summer 2020 as David and Walther von der Vogelweide at the Bayreuth Festival. The 2019/2020 season is studded with highlights. Daniel Behle made a guest appearance at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg in »MoZart« (Sony, 2019) with the L’Orfeo Baroque Orchestra. Early in 2020 he is due to sing Mendelssohn’s »Elijah« with the Orchestre de Paris under Daniel Harding and Mahler’s »Das Lied von der Erde« with the Hamburg Symphony under Sylvain Cambreling. He is appearing as a guest with the Lautten Compagney Berlin at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, Klangvokal Dortmund and Halle’s Handel Festival. He makes regular concert appearances with orchestras such as the Staatskapelle Dresden, Berlin and Vienna Philharmonics, Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, Orchestra dell’ Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Vienna Symphony, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and the orchestra of the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart, working with conductors such as Stefan Asbury, Bertrand de Billy, Semyon Bychkov, Christoph Eschenbach, James Gaffigan, Thomas Hengelbrock, Pablo Heras-Casado, Marek Janowski, Philippe Jordan, Fabio Luisi, Ingo Metzmacher, Kent Nagano, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Hans-Christoph Rademann, Jérémie Rhorer, Andreas Spering, Christian Thielemann and Franz Welser-Möst. He gives Lieder evenings at venues including Frankfurt’s Alte Oper, the Hugo-Wolf-Akademie Stuttgart, Bern Theatre and Brucknerhaus Linz. In March 2020 Daniel Behle will première his new chamber music programme »Behlcanto« at the Theater der Stadt Schweinfurt. His arrangements for tenor and piano trio are particularly highly regarded, and »WinterreiseN« (Sony) has already been premièred at Wigmore Hall, Concertgebouw Amsterdam and Frankfurt’s Alte Oper.
