Marc Moreau

Marc Moreau trained as a dancer from 1999 at the École de Danse de l‘Opéra national de Paris and joined the corps de ballet of the Paris Opera Ballet in 2004. He was promoted to the rank of Coryphée in 2009, Sujet in 2011 and Premier danseur in 2019. Following his performance as principal soloist in George Balanchine’s Ballet Impérial, he was appointed Danseur Étoile in March 2023. In 2010 he received the AROP Dance Prize. His most important roles include Colas in La Fille mal gardée (Frederick Ashton), the Peasant Pas de deux in Giselle (after Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot), Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake as well as Benvolio and Mercutio in Roméo et Juliette (Rudolf Nureyev), Lenski in Onegin (John Cranko), Des Grieux in Lady of the Camellias (John Neumeier), the Tchaikovsky Pas de deux, the solo role in Serenade, the Phlegmatic and Sanguine in The Four Temperaments and Oberon in The Midsummer Night’s Dream (George Balanchine). Furthermore, he has danced central roles in works – including world premieres – by Jean-Guillaume Bart, Trisha Brown, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Damien Jalet, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Nacho Duato, Mats Ek, Michel Fokine, William Forsythe, Marco Goecke, Jiří Kylián, Sol León & Paul Lightfoot, Wayne McGregor, Benjamin Millepied, Ohad Naharin, Justin Peck, Roland Petit, Crystal Pite, Angelin Preljocaj, Alexei Ratmansky, Saburo Teshigawara and Christopher Wheeldon.
Marc Moreau will make his debut at the Vienna State Opera as part of the Nureyev Gala 2024.
