Christian Tworzyanski

Christian Tworzyanski received his early training at Calvert Brodie Studios in Columbia, South Carolina in the United States. At the age of 15, he moved to New York City to study at the School of American Ballet with teachers Peter Boal and Andrei Kramarevsky. Upon graduation, Peter Martins invited him to join the New York City Ballet, where he danced for 11 years. As a member of the corps de ballet, he performed much of the company’s varied repertoire, including several featured roles in ballets by George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins, as well as in contemporary works. He created roles in premieres by choreographers including Christopher Wheeldon, Alexei Ratmansky, Benjamin Millepied, Wayne McGregor, Douglas Lee, Mauro Bigonzetti, and Justin Peck. In 2013, Christian Tworzyanski joined Les Ballets de Monte Carlo under the direction of Jean-Christophe Maillot, becoming a soloist after one season. During his time with the company he’s had the privilege of working with choreographers such as Jiří Kylián, Marco Goecke, Nacho Duato, Natalia Horecna, Jeroen Verbruggen, and Jean-Christophe Maillot. As a répétiteur, he has staged ballets for Justin Peck at several companies, including the Paris Opera Ballet. For the Vienna State Ballet’s production of Brahms-Schoenberg Quartet Christian Tworzyanski is staging his first ballet for the George Balanchine Trust.
