Benjamin Bernheim
French tenor Benjamin Bernheim regularly performs at the world’s leading opera houses, including the Opéra National de Paris, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Berlin State Opera, La Scala in Milan, and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in London. He sings key tenor roles from the romantic repertoire and has specialized in French repertoire. His performances and recordings have been highly praised, with the Süddeutsche Zeitung calling him "the most beautiful tenor voice since Luciano Pavarotti."
In the 2024/25 season, he will sing the title role in Les Contes d'Hoffmann at the Metropolitan Opera, Werther at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, Roméo in Roméo et Juliette at the Vienna State Opera, and Des Grieux in Manon at the Opéra National de Paris. Additionally, he will give numerous song recitals.
Highlights of his career include the title role in Les Contes d'Hoffmann at the Hamburg State Opera and in Salzburg, Faust (title role) at the Opéra National de Paris, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, and the Latvian National Opera. He has sung Rodolfo in La Bohème at the Opéra National de Paris, the Zurich Opera, and the Royal Opera House. Furthermore, he has performed Des Grieux in Manon in Paris, Hamburg, and Bordeaux, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor in Zurich and at the Salzburg Festival, the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto at the Bavarian State Opera, the Metropolitan Opera, and the Gran Teatre del Liceu. As Lenski in Eugene Onegin, he appeared at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and Zurich Opera. He has sung Alfredo in La traviata at La Scala, the Royal Opera House, Zurich Opera, Semperoper Dresden, Opéra National de Bordeaux, and Berlin State Opera. He portrayed the title role in Werther in Bordeaux and Roméo in Zurich and Paris.
He made his debut at the Vienna State Opera in 2018 as Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore) and has since sung Tamino, Rodolfo, Edgardo, and the Duke of Mantua.
