Louise Alder
Soprano Louise Alder studied at the Opera School of the Royal College of Music, where she was the first recipient of the Kiri Te Kanawa Scholarship. In addition to numerous other competition awards, she won the Young Singer Award at the International Opera Awards in 2017 and the Dame Joan Sutherland Audience Prize at the Singer of the World competition in Cardiff.
In the 2024/25 season, she will make several highly anticipated role debuts, including Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) at the Vienna State Opera, Micaëla (Carmen) at the San Francisco Opera, and the Countess in a new production of Le nozze di Figaro in Glyndebourne. She is also a frequent and welcome guest on international concert stages. Recently, she has performed as Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Susanna, Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), and Marzelline (Fidelio) at the Bavarian State Opera, Cleopatra in Giulio Cesare in Glyndebourne, Frankfurt, and at the Theater an der Wien, Susanna at Zurich Opera House, Zerlina (Don Giovanni) at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and Teatro Real in Madrid, Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier), and Anne Truelove (The Rake’s Progress) at the Glyndebourne Festival.
She made her debut at the Vienna State Opera in 2021 as Susanna and also performed Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier.
