Edgardo Rocha
Edgardo Rocha is considered one of today's leading interpreters of the bel canto repertoire and is praised for his warm timbre, vibrant coloratura, and brilliant high notes. Since his successful European debut in the title role of Donizetti’s Gianni di Parigi at the Festival della Valle d'Itria di Martina Franca, he has been a regular guest at the world's leading opera houses and festivals, including the Zurich Opera, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Bavarian State Opera, Vienna State Opera, and Salzburg Festival.
In the 2024/25 season, the tenor will debut as Florestano in Ferdinando Paër’s Leonora in Chicago. For his debut with the Washington Concert Opera, he will perform the title role in La clemenza di Tito. He will also return to the Vienna State Opera and the Opéra de Monte-Carlo for his eagerly awaited role debut as Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni. Further performances at the Vienna State Opera include the roles of Ferrando (Così fan tutte), Ernesto (Don Pasquale), and Count Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia).
Edgardo Rocha was born in Rivera, Uruguay, and studied piano, choral and orchestral conducting, and voice.
