Wiener Staatsballett

Since September 1, 2010, the new title of the Wiener Staatsoper ballet company is Wiener Staatsballett. It is directed by Manuel Legris, and provides the ensembles at both Wiener Staatsoper and Volksoper Wien. Manuel Legris is the former principal dancer of the Paris Ballet, and is a fixed star in the world of ballet. He has repeatedly been the guest soloist at the Wiener Staatsoper.

The premieres of the season 2019/20 include "Jewels" (Emeralds | Rubies | Diamonds) by George Balanchine on 2 November and "Lukács | Lidberg | Duato" on 4 March, including the three ballets "Movements to Stravinsky", "Between Dogs and Wolves" (world premiere) und "White Darkness" at the Wiener Staatsoper. At the Volksoper Wien we present you Mauro Bigonzetti's "La Piaf" (28 March) and "Appassionato - Bach und Vivaldi" (5 June), including the three ballet pieces "Il Prete Rosso" (Boris Nebyla), "Monkey Mind" (Eno Peci) and "Not another now" (Martin Winter). The season closure will be again our "Nurejew Gala" on 25 June.

Besides in the repertory at the Wiener Staatsoper: "Sylvia", "Forsythe | van Manen | Kylián", "Peer Gynt", "Le Corsaire", "Onegin", "MacMillan | McGregor | Ashton" and "Ballett-Hommage (Forsythe | Horecna | Lander)". At the Volksoper Wien we show you Vesna Orlic‘s ballets "Peter Pan" and "Carmina Burana" and Pierre Lacotte's "Coppélia".
