Opera Live Outdoors
In the months of April, May and June and also September, selected opera and ballet performances from the opera house on Ringstrasse are broadcast live on a 50 m² LED video screen outside the opera house. Five remote-controlled HD cameras ensure top quality, and the opera house’s own director of photography is responsible for the final outstanding product. The audience can thus enjoy the performances in a relaxed atmosphere in the open, and naturally with free admission.
With the Vienna State Opera live project, the opera house on Ringstrasse further expands its outreach activities – and once again takes a pioneering role in international music theatre: the performances reach a much wider audience, and newcomers to opera in particular can get a small taste of the fascinating world of music theatre in a relaxed atmosphere. And there can be no doubt that an evening of opera like this will whet your appetite for a visit inside the opera house …
The exact dates for all the performances can be found in Prolog magazine, in the fanfold brochure, on a poster in the arcades on Karajan Square and on the Internet at www.wiener-staatsoper.at.
Approximately 45 minutes before each performance and in the intervals, a complete cast list is displayed on the screen, as well as information about the work being shown, the composer, the Vienna State Opera and its programme, along with general information and sponsors’ names.
