Record revenues in 2018/2019 season at the Vienna State Opera:

In the 2018/2019 season, the Wiener Staatsoper again achieved record revenues through ticket sales: € 37,695,162.26 (2017/2018: € 35,298,761.91) – € 2,240,216.80 above the planned target. The capacity rate was 99,10% (2017/2018: 98.61%).

A total of 622,081 guests (2017/2018: 608,955), visited 291 operas, ballets and matinees on the main stage (2017/2018: 292), 72 performances in the studio Walfischgasse (2017/2018: 90) and 18 matinees in the Gustav Mahler hall (2017/2018: 20).
The 215 opera performances reached 99.43% of the seating capacity.

The Vienna State Ballet achieved a record turnout in 2018/19: For the first time, the Vienna State Ballet received 170,000 visitors in the course of this past season, as well as an additional 2,000 visitors during the tour to St. Petersburg in April 2019. The capacity rates were 99,55% (2017/2018: 97, 71%) at the Wiener Staatsoper and 87, 01% (2017/18: 72, 17%) at the Volksoper Wien. Equally, the Vienna State Ballet is pleased to have made additional receipts of € 1,054,1793 from ticket revenues.

Even more opera and ballet lovers were reached by the 47 live broadcasts via WIENER STAATSOPER live at home and by the tv broadcasts: Lucia di Lammermoor on ORF 2 as well as Falstaff, Idomeneo, Tosca and Peer Gynt on ORF III. The Anniversary Concert on 26 May had around one million viewers on ORF III and ARTE.

What is also encouraging is the number of children’s tickets sold in the main house and in the Studio Walfischgasse: In the 2018/2019 season, 11,430 children’s tickets were released (2017/2018: 13,469). Further, around 7,000 children attended the two performances of The Magic Flute for Children on the day after the Vienna Opera Ball.
