We are very pleased to be able to commence the 2020/21 season. As important as the artistic experience is, your health is just as important to us as is that of the artists and the staff at the Vienna State Opera. In order to offer as much security as possible to all those involved, we have prepared a Corona guide that will lead you through your visit.
→ Your tickets are personalized at the time of purchase. This means that the names of the people who will attend the performance will be printed on the tickets. Personalization is required by the authorities in order to quickly trace contact chains in the event of a possible COVID-19 infection. Please note that random checks are carried out at the venue to ensure that the name printed on the card matches the name of the card holder. Therefore, please bring an official photo ID with you to the presentation.
→ The seating plan has been adapted to the Corona regulations, i.e. the number of seats has been reduced in order to ensure an appropriate distance. Up to 4 connected tickets can be purchased if the persons live in the same household or belong to the same group. There is always 1 metre side distance to the next group or single seat. All names of group purchases must be disclosed and will be printed on the tickets.
→ If you are giving the tickets as a gift or buying them for someone else, you must state the names of the persons receiving the tickets or the actual owners when you buy them. The contact details including phone number or email (if available) will be recorded in our ticket system and the name will be printed on the card.
→ On your card a suitable entrance for your seat is assigned. We ask you to use this entrance. The doors are open one hour before the performance begins.
→ In order to ensure that the name printed on your ticket can actually be clearly assigned to you, we are forced to check not only the tickets but also the ID cards at the entrance. Therefore, please have an identification card ready. Please note that the controls at the entrance will take some time. We therefore ask you to arrive as early as possible, the doors are open one hour before the performance begins.
→ In the entire Vienna State Opera building it is compulsory to wear a mouth and nose protector. We kindly ask you to bring this to the performance and to keep it on when you reach your seat - until the performance begins. For your own safety, however, we recommend that you wear the mouth and nose protector during the entire performance.
→ Please disinfect your hands. You will find disinfectant dispensers at all entrances, at the central entrances to the auditorium and in the buffet area.
→ Please keep a minimum distance of 1 meter, if possible more.
→ The cloakrooms will be open, please wear your mouth and nose protection while waiting and keep a minimum distance of 1 meter.
→ Please proceed directly to your seat.
→ During the performance itself there is no obligation to wear a mouth and nose protector. For your own safety, however, we recommend that you wear the mouth and nose protector during the entire performance.
→ Performances at the Vienna State Opera will have the usual intervals. Foyers and buffets are open. Due to the new COVID 19 regulations, access to the buffets is limited: during intermissions, only preordered food and drinks will be allowed, all guests must be seated at tables. Please order your refreshments in advance, as it will not be possible to purchase them at the buffet. Please book a table for the buffet nearest to your seat. On the way to the foyers and buffets, you must wear a mask. Please pay cashless if possible. Thank you for your understanding.
→ Please also put on your mouth-and-nose protection if you wish to remain in your seat during the break. Other visitors are likely to pass by your seat, so that closer contacts may occur. We ask the visitors sitting on the outer seats to leave the rows first, only then the seats in the middle.
→ Access to the toilets, which are cleaned and above all disinfected much more frequently, is regulated in accordance with Corona regulations. A certain number of persons at a time may not be exceeded, the public service will ensure that this regulation is regarded.
→ We ask you to put on your mouth and nose protector before the final applause, as many visitors want to leave the hall immediately after the end of the performance and therefore closer contacts may occur.
→ No matter how hard it is: Please express your enthusiasm exclusively by clapping as loudly as possible and do not even take off your mouth and nose protector for well-deserved bravissimi.
→ Please leave the house in the most direct way possible.
→ We ask for your understanding that backstage visits or obtaining autographs at the stage entrance are unfortunately not possible until further notice due to the current situation.
→ After each performance, the empty hall is not only thoroughly cleaned but also disinfected with a TÜV-certified high-pressure nebuliser.
