We are very pleased to be able to commence the 2020/21 season. As important as the artistic experience is, your health is just as important to us as is that of the artists and the staff at the Vienna State Opera. In order to offer as much security as possible to all those involved, we have prepared a Corona guide that will lead you through your visit.
→ Your tickets are personalized at the time of purchase. This means that the names of the people who will attend the performance will be printed on the tickets. Personalization is required by the authorities in order to quickly trace contact chains in the event of a possible COVID-19 infection. Please note that random checks are carried out at the venue to ensure that the name printed on the card matches the name of the card holder. Therefore, please bring an official photo ID with you to the presentation.
→ The seating plan has been adapted to the Corona regulations, i.e. the number of seats has been reduced in order to ensure an appropriate distance. Up to 4 connected tickets can be purchased if the persons live in the same household or belong to the same group. There is always 1 metre side distance to the next group or single seat. All names of group purchases must be disclosed and will be printed on the tickets.
→ If you are giving the tickets as a gift or buying them for someone else, you must state the names of the persons receiving the tickets or the actual owners when you buy them. The contact details including phone number or email (if available) will be recorded in our ticket system and the name will be printed on the card.
→ The detailed information about ticket purchase for performances starting May 19 can be found here.
→ A suitable entrance is assigned to your seat on your ticket. We kindly ask you to use this entrance as well. The doors are already open one hour before the performance begins.
→ Upon entering the building, you must show a personalized ticket and one of the following: a negative COVID-19 test, proof of recovery from COVID-19 or proof of vaccination.
A negative COVID-19 test means the presentation of a self-test with official confirmation not older than 24 hours, an antigen test from an official agency not older than 48 hours, or a PCR test from an official agency not older than 72 hours.
Proof of recovery from COVID-19 means presenting a physician's confirmation of COVID-19 disease overcome no more than 6 months ago.
Proof of vaccination means that the first COVID-19 vaccination must have been given as long as 22 days ago, but no longer than 3 months ago. In case of a second vaccination, this period is extended to 9 months.
Access tests for children: An admission test for children is only required from the completed year of the age of ten.
→ To ensure that the name printed on your ticket can actually be clearly assigned to you, we are obliged to check not only tickets but also IDs at the entrance. Therefore, please have an ID ready.
Please note that the checks at the entrance will take some time. We therefore request that you arrive as early as possible; the doors are already open one hour before the start of the performance.
