Covid-19 guidelines since December 27

In accordance with the current decree of the Federal Government, since 27 December you will need the following proof or documents at the entrance for your visit to the Vienna State Opera:

  • A valid admission ticket, personalised in your name.
  • »Booster proof« for all over the age of 15 years (3x vaccinated, also with Johnson & Johnson, or recovered and 2x vaccinated)
You will find all details below - please read the instruction carefully
  • A negative PCR test, not older than 48 hours. The date and time of the test and the end of the presentation are valid.
  • An official photo ID
  • An FFP2 mask

This regulation applies provisionally to all performances up to and including 30 January 2022, but we will of course keep you informed in this regard.

→ Your tickets will be personalised at the time of purchase. This means that the names of the people who will attend the performance will be printed on the tickets. Furthermore, the telephone number of each visitor will be collected. Personalisation is required by the authorities in order to quickly trace chains of contact in the event of a possible COVID-19 infection. Please note that before entering the building, checks will be made to ensure that the holder of a card matches the name printed on it. Please therefore bring an official photo ID to the performance.

→ If you give the tickets to someone else as a gift or get them for someone else, you must provide the names of the persons receiving the gift or the actual owner at the time of purchase. The contact details incl. telephone number or email (if available) will be recorded in our ticket system and the name printed on the ticket. The substitutes can have their tickets repersonalised either during the week at the box offices of the Federal Theatres (Burgtheater, Volksoper, Staatsoper - opening hours) or in the evening at the helpdesk in the foyer of the Vienna State Opera upon presentation of the original tickets by means of identification. To have your subscription tickets repersonalised, please come to the subscription office up to one working day before the performance. You can find the opening hours here.

Personalizations for subscription tickets are always made (via personalization link, by telephone, by e-mail) up to 14 days before the performance in order to ensure timely dispatch of the subscription tickets. Tickets that have not been personalized by this time must be collected from the helpdesk (to the right and left of the staircase) on the evening of the performance and personalized there. Subsequent re-personalization of subscription tickets that have already been sent or that you have printed yourself can also be carried out at the helpdesk on the evening of the performance.

→ The doors are already open one hour before the performance starts. As the controls at the entrance take time, we ask you to be there as early as possible. We ask for your understanding that we can only let late arriving visitors into the auditorium during the interval.

→ When entering the building, a 1G-Booster-Plus proof must then be shown at the entrance. (The easiest way to do this is via the Green Pass. You can find all the information here). This means:

A pure proof of »recovered« without additional vaccination is no longer considered as an entry qualification.

Definition of »vaccinated«:

1. presentation of a vaccination certificate or an international vaccination certificate (according to Art. 36 of the International Health Regulations (2005), Federal Law Gazette III No. 98/2008 as amended by Federal Law Gazette III No. 182/2016, in which one of the vaccinations mentioned below is registered) concerning a vaccination against COVID-19 administered with a centrally licensed vaccine:

Exceptions regarding PCR testing:

Due to the high number of tests and the resulting overload of the laboratories, PCR test results are sometimes delivered very late, or PCR test facilities are not available everywhere, especially on weekends, so the regulation provides for an exception so that you still do not have to miss the presentation:

If you have submitted a PCR test on time and the result is still waiting, or if there is actually no PCR test possibility in your area for the required period of time, the proof of PCR test submission (e.g. mail or SMS confirmation) or a credible assurance of the impossibility of test collection in your area, as well as a rapid antigen test, not older than 24 hours in combination with the above-mentioned documents is also considered as admission.

An admission test for children is required from the age of 6 years.

For children aged 6-12 years, PCR testing is 72 hours and antigen testing is 48 hours or the Corona Test Passport (»Ninja Pass«). This means that three tests have been carried out during the week.

Youths from the age of 12 to 15 must present a PCR test, not older than 48 hours or a completed Ninja Passport.

From the age of 15, the Booster-Plus regulation applies (see above).

For persons from the completed 6th year of life to the completed 12th year of life, it applies that the taking of a molecular biological test for SARS-CoV-2 (PCR test) may not be longer than 72 hours ago. Notwithstanding the above, these
persons may also submit a negative test result of an antigen test for SARS-CoV-2, which must not have been taken more than 48 hours previously, in the form of:
a) certificate pursuant to section 4c of the Epidemics Act 1950,
b) proof of an authorised body, or
c) proof in accordance with § 3 Z 8 of the COVID-19 School Ordinance 2021/22 (Ninja Pass)
present.
A Corona Test Pass (»Ninja Pass«) shall also be valid as evidence on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the week in which all the tests provided for under the COVID-19 Schools Ordinance 2021/2022 per week of instruction are entered.

Certificates or proofs must be kept available for the entire duration of the stay.

a) proof in accordance with § 3 Z 8 of the COVID-19 School Ordinance 2021/22 (Ninja Pass)
present.
A Corona Test Pass (»Ninja Pass«) shall also be valid as evidence on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the week in which all the tests provided for under the COVID-19 Schools Ordinance 2021/2022 per week of instruction are entered.
