Details
Persinette was the original title of a French folk story that became known and beloved in the German-speaking world and beyond as Rapunzel in the version by the Brothers Grimm. As a commission for the Wiener Staatsoper, composer Albin Fries and librettist Birgit Mathon have created a three-act fairy-tale opera, the story of which follows this popular fairy tale about the girl with the long hair imprisoned in a tower. Albin Fries, who won the international Bartók Opera Composition Competition with his opera Nora in 2018, writes music in tonal, late romantic style.
