Maria José Siri
MARIA JOSÉ SIRI was born in Uruguay and studied piano and vocal studies. She has won numerous prizes at international competitions and was awarded both First Prize and the Audience Award at the Semper Opera House Competition in Dresden. She has sung the role of Leonora in Il trovatore at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Mimì in La Bohème at the Semper Opera House in Dresden, in Barcelona and in Naples and Verdi’s Requiem in Berlin (with the Berlin Philharmonic). She has sung the role of Aida at the Stuttgart State Opera, one of her principal roles. She has also performed this role at La Scala Milan, Teatro Massimo in Palermo, in Tel Aviv, Hamburg, Moscow, Florence and Tokyo. She has also sung the roles of Nedda (Pagliacci) at Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Rachel in La Juive in St. Petersburg, Tosca in Savonlinna, Turin, Palermo, Berlin, Stuttgart, Tatjana (Eugen Onegin) at the State Opera “Unter den Linden”, Maddalena (Andrea Chénier) in Bregenz, Stockholm, Turin, Tokyo, Berlin, Cio-Cio-San (Madama Butterfly) at La Scala Milan. To date, she has performed Maddalena und Tosca at the Vienna State Opera.
