Massimo Giordano

The Italian tenor MASSIMO GIORDANO was born in Pompeii, close to Naples, and studied flute and vocal studies at the conservatoire in Trieste. Numerous competition wins paved the way to his future career. In 1997 he made his international debut in the title role Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito. He has also celebrated success in roles such as Don José (Carmen), Cavaradossi (Tosca), Alfredo (La traviata), Rodolfo (La Bohème), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Des Grieux (Manon), and in the title roles of Don Carlo and Werther. The tenor’s engagements have taken him to the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Bavarian State Opera in Munich, San Francisco Opera, Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, Opéra de Paris, Teatro Comunale in Florence and to New York. He made his Vienna State Opera debut in 2003 as Nemorino, going on to perform Des Grieux, Don José, Rodolfo, Cavaradossi, Roméo (Roméo et Juliette), Alfredo (La traviata), Maurizio (Adriana Lecouvreur), Pollione (Norma) and the title role of Andrea Chénier.
