JANE HENSCHEL was born in Wisconsin, studied at the University of Southern California and then moved to Germany. Among others, she has sung Fricka and Waltraute, Ulrica, Klytämnestra and Erda at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London; Herodias, Cassandre and Waltraute at the Milan Scala; Herodias, Klytämnestra, Ulrica, Mrs. Quickly and Ortrud at the Bayerischen Staatsoper in Munich; Klytämnestra, Herodias and Ortrud at the Deutschen Oper Berlin, Amme, Brangäne at the Los Angeles Opera and Paris Opera. Jane Henschel’s central roles also include Amme (Die Frau ohne Schatten) which she sang on numerous important stages, amongst others in Amsterdam, London, Los Angeles, Munich, Paris, Wien, Berlin and the Met. Current performances are leading the singer to the opera houses in London, Paris, Munich, Berlin, Madrid, Barcelona, New York, Salzburg, Baden-Baden, to the Saito Kinen Festival and the Semperoper. Jane Heschel gave her debut in the Wiener Staatsoper in 2000 as Amme and has also sung here Klytämnestra (Elektra), Fricka (Die Walküre) Mrs. Quickly (Falstaff), Herodias and Waltraute (Götterdämmerung).
