After his success at the Wiener Staatsoper as Alberich, Jochanaan, Wotan/Wanderer in the Anniversary Ring in 2013, also as Mandryka, Cardillac, Amfortas, Scarpia, Kurwenal and as Jack Rance in La Fanciulla del West, TOMASZ KONIECZNY will return to the House in the future in several roles. In the following years, he was a guest among others at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Salzburg Festival, the Bayerischen Staatsoper and the Paris Opéra Bastille. Tomasz Konieczny was born in Lodz (Poland) and studied there at the Film Academy first acting, then completed studies in singing in Warsaw and Dresden. He gave his opera debut in 1997 in Posen (Poland) with Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro). Various engagements led him among others to Leipzig, St. Gallen, Chemnitz and Mannheim where he stayed for several seasons in the National Theatre as part of the ensemble. At the Salzburg Festival in 2012, he was Stolzius in Zimmermann’s Die Soldaten, in 2014 he was Komtur in Don Giovanni and 2015 Pizarro. Recently he gave his debut in the leading role in Wozzeck at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Current projects include among others Lohengrin in Dresden and Paris, Walküren-Wotan in Budapest and Die Liebe der Danae in Salzburg.
