Ilia Staple

Ilia Staple received her vocal training first privately with her mother and later at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz with Katerina Beranova. The young soprano’s first engagements were as Gwendolen (My Friend Bunbury) at the Leipzig Opera and as Papagena (Die Zauberflöte) at the Chemnitz Opera.

In 2016 − 2018 Ilia Staple was a member of the Upper Austrian Opera Studio at the Landestheater Linz where she sang, among others, Despina (Così fan tutte), Sandmännchen and Taumännchen (Hänsel und Gretel), Klärchen Hinzelmann (Im weißen Rössl), Ciboletta (Eine Nacht in Venedig), Rosetta (in Erich Zeisl’s Leonce und Lena) and Flaminia (Il mondo della luna). 

She made guest appearances at the Musicalfestwochen Bad Leonfelden as Christine (The Phantom of the Opera) and as Maria (West Side Story). At the International Bruckner Festival Linz she embodied the roles of Frau Herberstorff in the world premiere of Michael Hazod’s Alea, Bubikopf (Der Kaiser von Atlantis) and Blonde (Die Entführung aus dem Serail). She performed as Midili Hanum (Die Rose von Stambul) and as Miss Edith (Die Juxheirat) at the Lehár Festival Bad Ischl. In Baden she embodied Eurydice (Orpheus in der Unterwelt), Bronislawa (Der Bettelstudent) and Christel (Der Vogelhändler).

The soprano is also a regular soloist on the concert stage, performing works such as Johann Sebastian Bach’s Johannespassion, Handel’s The Messiah, Joseph Haydn’s Die Schöpfung and Kurt Schwertsik’s Sonnengesang.
