Tenor PAVEL PETROV was born in Belarus and studied at Belarusian State Academy of Music in Minsk. He has won numerous awards, e.g. second prize at the 2014 Competizione dell’ Opera International Competition and both first prizes at Plácido Domingo’s Operalia in 2018. As an ensemble member of the National Academic Grand Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus in Minsk, he has sung Jontek (Halka), Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto), Lykov (The Tsar’s Bride) and Tsar Berendey (Snow Maiden). In 2015, he portrayed Lensky (Eugene Onegin) in Kiel and Bucharest, Alfredo at Mikhailovsky Theatre in St. Petersburg and Young Gypsy (Aleko) at La Monnaie in Brussels. In 2015/16, he was a member of International Opera Studio Zurich, where he performed in La traviata, Turandot and Orlando Paladino. He has made guest performances at ROH Covent Garden (Pong), in Sydney (Ferrando), at Arena di Verona (Alfredo) and Stadttheater Klagenfurt (Lensky). Since 2016/2017, Pavel Petrov has been an ensemble member at Graz Opera House. He has sung Edgardo, Alfredo, Lensky, Rodolfo, Prunier (La rondine), Narroboth, Don Ottavio and Nadir there.
