Jader Bignamini

Jader Bignamini is currently in his third season as the Music Director of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Outside of Detroit, in the 2023/24 season, he will make his debut with the London Philharmonic and Bergen Philharmonic orchestras. He will also return to the Vienna State Opera as the conductor for Manon Lescaut and to the Paris Opera as the conductor for Adriana Lecouvreur. Some of his recent highlights include performances with the Cleveland Orchestra, the Houston Symphony, the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, the Residentie Orkest Den Haag, and the Bern Symphony Orchestra. He has also been engaged for opera productions at the Metropolitan Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Bavarian State Opera, Dutch National Opera, Oper Frankfurt, and the Canadian Opera Company. In the summer of 2021, he conducted performances of Turandot at the Arena di Verona and a staged production of Rossini's Stabat Mater at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro. He also conducted Cavalleria rusticana at the Michigan Opera Theatre, La bohème at the Santa Fe Opera, and La traviata in Tokyo. On the concert stage, he has conducted the Dallas Symphony, Milwaukee Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, Slovenian Philharmonic, Freiburg Philharmonic, Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, and the Nationaltheater Mannheim Orchestra. He has also been engaged at various other venues, including the Bolshoi (for Manon Lescaut), Bavarian State Opera (for La traviata), Rome Opera (for Il trovatore and Aida), São Paulo (for La bohème), Teatro la Fenice (for La bohème and Madama Butterfly), Bologna (for Tosca), Verdi Festival in Parma (for La forza del destino), Verona (for La bohème, Cavalleria rusticana, and L'amor Brujo), Maggio Musicale in Florence, Festival della Valle d'Itria in Martina Franca, and the MITO Festival. In 2015, he made his concert debut at La Scala. Jader Bignamini began his conducting career as an assistant and later as the chief conductor of the Orchestra Sinfonica la Verdi. He was born in Crema and studied at the Music Conservatory in Piacenza.
