Maria Yakovleva

Maria Yakovleva was born in Saint Petersburg (Russia). She graduated from Vaganova Academy in 2004. In 2004/2005 she was a member of the Mariinsky Theatre where she was entrusted with solo roles of the classical repertory. In 2005 she was engaged as Soloist by the Ballett der Wiener Staatsoper und Volksoper – in 2010 she was appointed First Soloist of the Wiener Staatsballett.

She performed the title roles in Rudolf Nureyev’s “Raymonda”, Kenneth MacMillan’s „Manon“, Pierre Lacotte’s "La Sylphide" and Patrick de Bana's "Marie Antoinette", title role, Bauernpaar and Zulma in Elena Tchernichova’s „Giselle“, Kitri in Rudolf Nureyev’s „Don Quixote“, Odette/Odile and Gefährtin des Prinzen in Nureyev’s „Schwanensee“, Clara in Nureyev’s "Der Nussknacker", Prinzessin Aurora and Verzauberte Prinzessin in Peter Wright’s "Dornröschen", Lise in Frederick Ashton’s „La Fille mal gardée“, Swanilda in „Coppélia“ from Gyula Harangozó sen., Prinzessin Maria in Gyula Harangozó’s „Der Nussknacker“, Bella in Roland Petit’s „Die Fledermaus“, Julia in John Cranko’s „Romeo und Julia“, Tatjana and Olga in Cranko’s „Onegin“, Baronesse Mary Vetsera in Kenneth MacMillan’s „Mayerling“, Médora in Manuel Legris' "Le Corsaire", Hamsatti and Solo-Schatten in Vladimir Malakhov’s „Die Bajadere“, Ada in Maurice Béjart’s „Le Concours“, Hermia in Jorma Elo’s „Ein Sommernachtstraum“, Verlobte des Jungen Dichters in „Platzkonzert“ from Gyula Harangozó sen., Vivette in Roland Petit’s "L´Arlésienne", Tamara Karsawina in John Neumeier’s „Le Pavillon d’Armide“, roles in Harald Lander’s "Études", Ben van Cauwenbergh’s „Tanzhommage an Queen“, George Balanchine’s „Rubies“, Serge Lifar’s "Suite en blanc", Jerome Robbins’ „In the Night“, „Glass Pieces“ and "The Four Seasons", Hans van Manen’s "Adagio Hammerklavier", Rudi van Dantzig’s „Vier letzte Lieder“, John Neumeier’s "Bach Suite III" and "Verklungene Feste", Twyla Tharp’s „Variationen über ein Thema from Haydn“, Nils Christe’s "Before Nightfall", William Forsythe’s „The Second Detail“, Myriam Naisy’s „Ederlezi“, Jorma Elo’s „Glow – Stop“, David Dawson’s "A Million Kisses to my Skin", Christopher Wheeldon’s "Fool's Paradise" and Wassili Wainonen’s "Moszkowski-Walzer". She created the role of the empress Elisabeth in Patrick de Bana’s „Ludwig II – The Swan King“.

She has appeared as guest dancer in many European Countries an overseas. 

Awards and honours: Nomination for the Prix Benois de la Danse for her performance in George Balanchines “Rubies” in 2011.
