NADIA KRASTEVA was born in Sofia. She studied singing at the National Academy of Music in Sofia and at the Academy of Arts and Culture Boris Christoff in Rome. In 2001/2002 she sang at opera houses in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas and Stara Zagora and in 2002 she joined the Vienna State Opera ensemble and debuted there as Fenena in Nabucco. Since then she has sung more than 30 parts in Vienna, among them Carmen, Adalgisa (Norma), Maria Gesualdo, Léonor (La Favorite), Olga, Giulietta (Contes d’Hoffmann), Marina Mniszech (Boris Godunov), Meg Page (Falstaff), Ulrica (Ballo in maschera), Eboli (Don Carlos), Flosshilde (Rheingold, Götterdämmerung), First Norn (Götterdämmerung), Polina and Daphnis (Pique Dame), Maddalena (Rigoletto), Sonyetka (Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District) and Preziosilla. She has also performed at Deutsche Oper Berlin, Teatro alla Scala, Bayerische Staatsoper, in Hamburg, Sofia, Bratislava, Savonlinna, Riga, at Lyric Opera Chicago, at the Met, in Valencia, at Dutch National Opera and at Bolshoi Theatre Moscow. Current and upcoming appearances include Bolshoi Theatre, ROH Covent Garden, Bayerische Staatsoper and Teatro Colón.
