Lise Davidsen

Lise Davidsen, the Norwegian soprano, took the classical world by storm in 2015, winning the 1st Prize at the Operalia and Queen Sonja competitions. In a short span of time, she made her debut with resounding success at the Bayreuth Festival, in Aix-en-Provence, Glyndebourne, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, the Bavarian State Opera, the Wigmore Hall, the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, and the Zurich Opera House.

Recent engagements have included her first major Wagner role as Elisabeth in Tannhäuser, which she performed at the Zurich Opera House, the Bavarian State Opera, and in a triumphant debut at the Bayreuth Festival, where she was hailed by the international press as the »voice of the century.« Other appearances have featured her role debut as Lisa in The Queen of Spades at the Stuttgart Opera, the title role in Ariadne auf Naxos at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, the Vienna State Opera, and the Glyndebourne Festival, Agathe in a new production of Der Freischütz at the Zurich Opera House, Cherubini's Medea at the Wexford Festival, Santuzza in Cavalleria rusticana and Sancta Susanna in Oslo, as well as Isabella in Das Liebesverbot at the Teatro Colón.

In the 2019/20 season, Lise Davidsen continued her meteoric rise with several eagerly anticipated debuts and performances, including appearances at the Metropolitan Opera in New York as Lisa and as Leonore in Fidelio conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin at the Opéra de Montréal and at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in a new production conducted by Sir Antonio Pappano. Her recent concert performances have included Ellen Orford in Peter Grimes at the Enescu Festival and Sieglinde in Die Walküre with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Fabio Luisi.
