Eszter Ledán

Eszter Ledán was born in St. George (Romania). She studied at the Hungarian Dance Academy in Budapest. In 2008 she joined the Ballett der Vienna State Operaund Volksoper. In 2013 she was appointed demi-soloist of the Vienna State Ballet.

Her repertoire comprises Kitriʼs friend in Rudolf Nureyev’s »Don Quixote«, Fairy of beauty, white cat, Red Riding Hood and Friend of princess Aurora in Peter Wright’s »The Sleeping Beauty«, the cat in Martin Schläpferʼs premiere of »The Sleeping Beauty«, Arabian Dance and Pastorale in Rudolf Nureyev’s »The Nutcracker«, Little swan and Noble lady  in Nureyev’s »Swan Lake«, The young girl in Michail Fokin’s »Le Spectre de la rose«, Odaliske in Manuel Legris' »Le Corsaire«, Gerda in Michael Corder’s »The Snow Queen«, Crown Princess Stephanie in Kenneth MacMillan’s »Mayerling«, Courtesan in MacMillan’s »Manon«, Lisesʼs friend in Frederick Ashton’s »La Fille mal gardée«, Judith in Stephan Thoss' »Bluebeardʼs Secret«, Grand Pas classique hongrois (solo variation) in Rudolf Nureyev’s »Raymonda«, Zulma in Elena Tschernischova’s »Giselle«, the Night and Swanildaʼs friend in Pierre Lacotte’s »Coppélia« as well as parts in George Balanchine’s »Who Cares?«, »Theme and Variations«, »Symphony in C« and »Jewels« (»Rubies«), Marius Petipa’s Grand Pas from »Raymonda«, Jerome Robbins’ »The Concert«, Hans van Manen’s »Adagio Hammerklavier«, Thierry Malandain’s »Mozart à 2«, John Neumeier’s »Vaslaw« and »Le Sacre« and William Forsythe’s »In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated«. Furthermore, she danced, among others, in works by Jiří Bubeníček, David Dawson, William Forsythe, Jiří Kylián, Harald Lander, Manuel Legris, Edwaard Liang, Serge Lifar, András Lukács, Antony McDonald & Ashley Page, Daniel Proietto, Twyla Tharp, Christopher Wheeldon and Martin Schläpfer, e.g. a couple in »Sphärenklänge« in »Marsch, Walzer, Polka«.

Her awards and honours include 1st Prize at the International Competition of the Hungarian Dance Academy (2005) as well as 2nd Prizes at the International Ballet Competition in Helsinki (2006) and at the OETR-Contest, Vienna (2007).
