MICHAEL BODER
MICHAEL BODER began his education in 1977 at the Hamburg College of Music. In 1980 he continued his studies in Florence where he worked as a coach and assistant to Riccardo Muti and Zubin Mehta. His collaboration with Michael Gielen at the Frankfurt Opera (1984 -1988), where he took on his first production, had a significant influence on his development. He has conducted in, amongst other places, Cologne, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Munich, Berlin, Dresden and at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in London. His repertoire ranges from Mozart to contemporary operas. He conducted the premiere of Penderecki’s Ubu Roi at the Munich Opera Festival and Das Schloß by Reimann at the Deutschen Oper Berlin. He made his debut at the Vienna State Opera in 1995 with Wozzeck, followed by a new production of Berg’s Lulu; the Austrian stage première of Schönberg’s Die Jakobsleiter, together with Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi; the premiere of Der Riese vom Steinfeld by Peter Turrini and Friedrich Cerha commissioned by the Vienna State Opera, as well as revivals of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and Enescu’s Oedipe. He will conduct the latter work again in the 2004/05 season. |
