MARC MINKOWSKI was born in 1962. He initially studied bassoon, then conducting. At the age of twenty he founded Les Musiciens du Louvre-Grenoble, with which he compiled a very comprehensive repertoire. As conductor he performs at numerous international houses, for example at the Opéra National de Paris, the Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam, the Theâtre de la Monnaie Brüssel, La Fenice in Venice, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, at the Moskow Stanislavski-Theatre; he is also guest at renowned festivals, for example at the Salzburger Festspiele or the Festival in Aix-en-Provence. He has recently performed in Aix-en-Provence (Les Boreades), at the Verbier Festival (Fidelio), at the ROH Covent Garden (Idomeneo, La traviata), La Scala (Lucio Silla), at the Opéra National de Paris (Alceste), Opéra Royal de Versaille (Le nozze di Figaro), at the Wiener Festwochen (Fidelio). Since 2008, Marc Minkowski has been music director of the Sinfonia Varsovia and was appointed Chevalier of the French Legion of Honour by the French president in 2004. Since 2013, Marc Minkowski has been artistic director of the Salzburg Mozartwoche.
